Bart Yasso

Usually we feature runners local to the Eastern Shore of Delmarva. We’re changing things up with this one as we feature Bart Yasso, the “mayor of running,” who makes a special trip each year to do the finish line announcing for the Salisbury Marathon events. Bart’s running career spans 50+ years around the globe.

Brian Outten

When you meet Brian Outten, he’ll ask you about yourself. He doesn’t seek the limelight – he’d rather tell you puns while running alongside you – but we convinced him to sit still for a bit and share his running journey through the years. Brian’s wife Colette was a previous featured runner. They live in Pocomoke, Md.

Daniel Smart

Daniel Smart of Crisfield, Md., might just be the friendliest, most encouraging person you’ll ever meet. He believes in his goals, and believes in yours, too. He has an impressive running resume and you might think he’s always been a runner. But his before-story might surprise you and will definitely motivate you.

Safety in Running

This feature is a bit different. Sergeant Ivan Barkley of the Maryland State Police and a frequent runner with his local running club provides considerations on staying safe while getting in miles. Here are basic safety tips to keep in mind before you head out for your next run.

Jessica Bobb

Let’s get to know Jessica Bobb of Grasonville, Maryland. She’s a mom of two girls, a high school math teacher, a coach for her kids’ sports teams and an ultrarunner who ran marathons long before 5ks. She’s got staying power and never met an ultra she didn’t like.
